Virtual Audience
Virtual Audience Features and Specs
Virtual Audience gives you the ability to create crowds and audiences of any size - from a small room of 10 people - to an arena or stadium of over 40,000 individuals.
Virtual Audience is made for music and video applications to either enhance an existing live audience or to create a believable audience that will move and flow with a performance.
These samples were taken from live recordings in some of the finest music venues and arenas in New York City for an amazingly authentic and believable experience, perfect for your next project.
Virtual Audience contains release samples that capture the END of audience clapping and cheering; naturally decaying without fades that interfere with the illusion of realism. Now, your audience will naturally decay not only in volume, but in number of people clapping - down to that inevitable lonesome clap at the end (are they not paying attention?).
On screen buttons, keys and other controls allow for quick edits and customization. An extensive array of controls ensure your audience sounds like it was recorded live in the same room as your source material.
A global effects section rounds out the feature set with standards like reverberation and delay but also adds sample-grain pitch shifting and low and high pass filters for vintage effects.
Now a live audience can be added to vintage recordings and films, perfectly matching the source material.
Eighteen different crowd choices are simultaneously offered. They are:
10-person small group - Close

Concept
There are virtual drummers, virtual bassists, virtual guitarists, virtual vocalists, virtual composers, and virtual pianists. What’s missing? The AUDIENCE!
You can’t have a fully artificial experience without the FULL experience being artificial – that’s how Virtual Audience was born!
All kidding aside, there have been several occasions where I needed to beef up an existing audience or create the illusion of a live venue. It is tremendously hard to find the right size audience from commercial sample libraries and sound effect recordings. They are either too large (how many stadium cheers do we really need?) too small, or too lame (really? You put 5 people in a room and call that ‘applause?’).
What is needed is a way to go from 10 people in a room to mid-sized crowds, to performance venues, then to arenas, and finally to full-on stadiums.
From 2006-2008 I recorded live performances in New York City venues. That's two years’ worth of encore applause, roars, and clapping for some of the coolest acts in the music business. I’ve used these samples privately for several records. Other producers have borrowed them to enhance their own projects and documentaries.
After SAW-1 Discovery was released it seemed like a good idea to build a Rack Extension around these samples and focus on an engine to emulate crowds of any size. Virtual Audience is the result!
Virtual Audience is available now in the Reason Studios Shop.
